Vaccinations for Puppies and Dogs

Vaccinations help protect your cuddly companion from contracting and spreading harmful diseases that may be fatal. They help build walls around their immune system to fight off any unwanted critters, so they can go back to living their best lives. Is vaccinating my puppy/dog important?

The answer is always yes. Vaccinating your canine friend helps protect them from serious and fatal diseases. Pets can easily pick up and be exposed to harmful diseases that can put them and other pets at risk if transmitted. That is why we strongly recommend that all pets be vaccinated. Some diseases that vaccines fight to protect your pet against include rabies, Lyme disease, canine distemper and influenza. Puppies can receive their first vaccines from 8 to 12-weeks-old and will continue to receive a series of vaccinations until they are 3 to 4-months-old. From there, we recommend bringing in your dog once every 1 to 3 years for their booster shots.

What are core vaccines for puppies/dogs?

Core vaccines are considered vital for all pets. They protect your furry loved one from common harmful diseases that they are at higher risk of being exposed to or transmitting and can cause serious health issues. Not to worry, our veterinarians will work with you to create a vaccination plan that works best for your furry friend. Core vaccines recommended for all dogs include:

  • Canine parvovirus
  • Canine distemper
  • Canine hepatitis
  • Rabies
