When should I get my kitten/cat vaccinated?

Vaccinating your feline friend should be at the top of your To-Do List. Vaccines protect your pet against contracting and spreading diseases that could have serious health consequences if not prevented. Cats are at risk of easily picking up these harmful diseases which is why we strongly recommend that all pets be vaccinated including indoor kittens and cats. Kittens can receive their first round of vaccines from 6 to 8-weeks-old and should not play outside before their first shots. They will continue to get another series of shots until they are 4-months-old. From there, we recommend bringing your furry friend in for their booster shot every year or three years. If you are unsure of how often to bring them in, our veterinarians can recommend a vaccination or parasite prevention plan tailored to your pet’s individual health and lifestyle needs.

Which core vaccines do you recommend for my cat?

Core vaccinations are vaccines that should be given to all cats. They help protect your feline friend against harmful common diseases that could be fatal. Our veterinarians are here to help create a vaccination or parasite prevention plan tailored to your pet’s medical needs. Core vaccines recommended for all cats include:

  • Feline distemper (panleukopenia)
  • Feline calicivirus
  • Feline rhinotracheitis (herpesvirus)
